CBF Calls for Clean Water Progress in Wake of DEP Secretary's Resignation

(HARRISBURG, PA)—"It is incumbent upon the Wolf Administration to ensure the work to reduce pollution in local rivers and streams remains a top priority and DEP and other agencies accelerate efforts and get back on track with this important task."

Lee Ann Murray, assistant executive director for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Pennsylvania, issued this statement following the resignation of John Quigley as secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Read More

CBF Pleased with Release of $25 Million in Funding for Pennsylvania Clean Water Projects

(HARRISBURG, PA)—"The $25 million in Growing Greener funding is a welcome investment in projects that can reduce water pollution and improve water quality across the Commonwealth."

Harry Campbell, CBF Pennsylvania Executive Director, issued this statement following the announcement by Governor Tom Wolf that 114 projects would receive a total of $25.1 million in Growing Greener funding through the Department of Environmental Protection. Read More

After 10 Months of Nurturing, Volunteer Oyster Gardeners Cut 'Youngsters' Loose

(Baltimore Sun)— Video Each fall, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation provides scores of oyster spat to volunteers...who are deputized to grow the oysters through the winter along their local shoreline. When the weather turns warmer, foundation staff members collect the creatures — which have grown considerably — and escort them to sanctuary reefs in the bay and its tributaries. Read More
