CBF AND ALLIES TAKE LEGAL ACTION
TO FORCE EPA TO REDUCE POLLUTION On January 5, 2009, after 25 years of watching promises broken and commitments unfulfilled, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) filed a lawsuit in federal court to require the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to enforce the law and reduce pollution sufficiently to remove the Chesapeake Bay from the federal ‘impaired waters’ list.
In September 2009, CBF put a hold on the lawsuit after President Obama issued and Executive Order requiring EPA to develop programs that will enhance the water quality of the Bay and enforce the Clean Water Act.
