Recertification Credit

Credit for a Chesapeake Classrooms 5-day immersion course is issued in accordance to the state in which you teach:

District of Columbia*40 Professional Learning Units
Maryland3 Continuing Professional Development Credits 
Pennsylvania*Graduate Credit is Available
Virginia Documentation of 45 Contact Hours

The appropriate documents and/or forms are generated automatically upon approval of your unit plan by CBF’s Teacher Professional Development Coordinators and mailed directly to you from the headquarters office in Annapolis, Maryland. Please allow at least six weeks for the approval process.  

*DC and PA teachers cannot earn recertification credit for courses taken outside of their district. Graduate credit is available; additional fees apply.

Graduate Credit

Graduate credit costs are in addition to the CBF course fee and require some additional course work. Please see the requirements, performance standards and assessment below for details. Credits are issued in accordance with the college or university’s schedule. Transcripts are usually available by December.
*Graduate credit is not available for 1-day workshops.

Graduate credit is available from Catholic University of America.

Graduate Credit Requirements, Performance Standards, and Assessment

A three to five page reflection of the experience. The paper should include your personal reflections on the field experience and your thoughts on applying the course to your classroom teaching.

Completion of a course journal to record assignments, professional reflection, data collection and reading notes

Active participation in the five-day field experience, includes group activities, discussions, and reading assignments

Meaningful Watershed Experience unit plan

30%

Grading System
A = Full and active participation in five-day field experience and successful and timely completion of all course requirements; a course score of 90 - 100%
B+ = Full participation in five-day field experience, and completion of course requirements; a course score of 85-90%
B = Participation in five-day field experience, and completion of course requirements; a course score of 80 -85%
B- = Participation in five-day field experience, and completion of course requirements; a course score of 75 - 80%
F = A final course score below 80% or failure to attend any part of the course without prior arrangements for a make-up session
I = Participation in the five-day field course, yet failure to complete written course requirements
