At Clagett Farm, our ultimate goal is to use farming methods that are truly sustainable—both economically and environmentally. The farm is not certified organic, but we follow organic standards to protect our watershed, our consumers and ourselves. We encourage everyone to visit the farm and inquire more about our crop rotations, tillage methods, fertility, and pest control. While the farm is not perfectly sustainable, this struggle inspires us to continue improving our farm.

We have a variety of programs:

Community Supported Agriculture
We raise a wide variety of produce and strive to provide our food to people of all income levels. Our vegetables are for sale to the public through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and through a joint effort with the Capital Area Food Bank called "From the Ground Up."  Almost half of our produce is distributed free or at reduced prices to underserved communities in Washington, D.C. through "From the Ground Up." The rest is sold through the CSA.

Native Tree Nursery
Our potted trees are planted throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed as a buffer against erosion. Help us plant them! Check out CBF's volunteer calendar or send an e-mail to MDrestoration@cbf.org.

Grass-Fed Beef
Our grass-fed beef is for sale to the public bi-annually as a "split half." Send an e-mail to clagettfarm@cbf.org to be alerted when it goes on sale.

Educational Field Programs
Clagett Farm is one site among many for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's award-winning field trips for students, teachers, and adults. Visit cbf.org/education for more information, or send an e-mail to educationcoordinator@cbf.org.

Agricultural Policy
Our farm manager, Michael Heller, helps the Chesapeake Bay Foundation champion legislation that supports the Bay and our farmers.
