LAND USE ON THE SHORE Residents overwhelmingly value the open spaces, natural areas, slow-paced living, and high quality of life on the Eastern Shore. Unfortunately, the region’s character is changing as mega-development proposals like Blackwater Resort Communities threaten the very reasons people have for living here. Recent projections state that up to 160,000 people could move to the Shore in the next 25 years. The response to this unprecedented development pressure will shape life in the region and the health of the Bay - for generations to come.
