Environmental Literacy Graduation Requirement
After two years of development, discussions, and hard work by the Maryland No Child Left Inside® Coalition and the Governor-appointed Maryland Partnership for Children in Nature, Maryland is now on the verge of becoming the first state in the nation to adopt an environmental literacy graduation requirement.
On July 16th, the Maryland State Department of Education published a proposed environmental literacy graduation requirement and the board will vote on this issue on September 22, 2010. The purpose of the proposed requirement is to ensure all students have access to high quality environmental education. Stay tuned for upcoming action opportunities!
