STUDENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM The Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Student Leadership Program provides resources and opportunities for motivated middle and high school students, as well as college-aged students. These items will improve students' confidence and preparation to make sustainable and environmentally-friendly decisions in their hometowns. Everything done at school, home, and in our own yard affects local water quality so CBF wants to help students make choices that have a positive impact on the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Be a Leader in Your Community! What are Chesapeake Bay Student Leaders? Young men and women who ask, inspire, mobilize, and guide themselves and others to make positive differences in their homes, schools, communities, and the world! They utilize the resources available, create new ways to develop and carry out their skills, and make decisions based on ethical environmental standards. They are constantly gaining a greater understanding of leadership concepts and practices by seeking out opportunities that allow them to grow and learn more about their environment. Each leader possesses many different traits and brings diverse strengths to the forefront when working in a group setting. CBF student leaders listen to the problems at hand, consider a range of alternatives, thinks before they react, and then solve problems confidently knowing all parties and environmental surroundings have been considered. Join the leadership team at CBF's new Student Action Network and you will have access to new resources, including information about: - Summer immersion courses ranging in length from 7-14 days. Travel the watershed by canoe or jet boat as you learn about water quality issues and their solutions.
- A pathway towards leadership, defined by specific goals for you to measure your progress.
- Leadership Certification to recognize your achievements.
- Online resources and opportunities to connect with other student leaders.
Our mission is to provide students with opportunities to expand their knowledge of Bay issues, improve planning skills, focus on team building, and learn how to lead others to take action to improve water quality in their local communities. CBF encourages students to be a part of this by participating in service-learning and our summer leadership experiences Check out the Student Action Network to begin your pathway — Build Your Skills, Connect with Your Community, Take Action, and Get to Work.
