A Transformation Takes Place

to the right for the old Bay Ridge Inn or to the left for the Philip Merrill Center.

The entire 31 acres around the Philip Merrill Center is a restoration project. The design shows an awareness of both CBF's connection to the Bay and to the land.

The building sits on the footprint of a defunct beach club. Construction did not touch previously undisturbed portions of the site. It maintained existing native landscaping, including hardwoods, but much expanded the buffer between building and Bay with extensive native grasses, wetlands, and a storm water treatment system.

The "after" photo above, taken in the early spring following construction, shows the newly landscaped shore. Today, the area is full and lush.
