CBF Staff

At the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), we understand the power of benefits. We are committed to providing comprehensive, affordable, and cutting-edge benefits to our employees. From healthcare and wellness to retirement planning and beyond, here's how we support your journey as a Bay-saver.

36 Hour Work Week

CBF offers a 36-hour work week to regular full-time and part-time staff. Our intention is to improve our ability to perform our mission while providing staff with greater choice and flexibility as part of a reduced hour work week. Our belief is that when staff have more time to recover and recharge during the week, they are more engaged and productive.

Healthier People for a Healthier Bay

At CBF, we provide a competitive selection of medical, dental, and vision plans for you to choose from. In a world where healthcare has become more important than ever, we value the need for accessibility. CBF pays a portion of all benefits for you and your dependents. For all of our locations, you will have access to low or no deductible medical plans through BlueCross and BlueShield. Maryland employees can also elect a Health Savings Account (HSA) through a high-deductible health plan. And no matter where you are, you have access to national medical, dental, and vision coverage through our providers.

Save the Bay with Financial Security

CBF provides you with the tools you need to plan and fund your retirement, regardless of what your financial situation looks like. We offer a 403(b) and/or Roth IRA with an employer match to suit all of your retirement needs. While you're here, enjoy access to a host of other financial resources to assist you on your journey.

Get Outside and Get Excited

No matter what your role is within CBF, you are welcomed on any of our available field Education Programs or to volunteer on any of our many restoration programs and events. From water tours to tree plantings and everything in between, we encourage everyone to get out into the field and learn about the Bay they are saving!

Flexible Spending for Flexible People

When it comes to Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), we've got you covered. Set aside money for medical expenses, childcare, or commuter/transportation expenses through one of our non-limited FSAs: Medical Reimbursement Account (MRA), Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRP), or Qualifying Transportation Expense (QTE).

Total-Body Wellness

At CBF, we understand the importance of wellness for both the body and mind. We value and support your time in the workplace and beyond. Enjoy guided meditation sessions, a dedicated CBF-sponsored Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and a host of web resources and personal guidance to assist you on your wellness journey.

Employee-Centered Paid Time Off (PTO) and Leave

Saving the Bay is hard work—and we encourage employees to take time for themselves. All full-time regular staff receive 20 paid vacation days per year.* Our offices close for major holidays, and we strive to provide inclusive opportunities for staff to take personal holidays as well. To assist you, we provide two floating holidays for you to use per year.* For when you're sick or need to care for a family member, we also provide you with 10 days of sick leave per year with unlimited rollover.*

Life at Ease with Life Insurance

No matter what your financial picture looks like, we've got you covered. All benefit-eligible CBF staff receive basic life insurance and AD&D through Mutual of Omaha equal to your annual salary, up to $50,000. Staff are also able to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for themselves, their spouse, and their children.

Income Security for Illness and Injury

When the unexpected happens, you're prepared. You receive employer-paid disability insurance to help cover your salary for short and long-term disability leave, which can be coupled with any available sick/vacation leave.

The Bay Needs You

The State of the Bay Report makes it clear that the Bay needs our support now more than ever. Your donation helps the Chesapeake Bay Foundation maintain our momentum toward a restored Bay, rivers, and streams for today and generations to come.
