From Northern Virginia

  • Merge onto I-66 East, crossing over the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Bridge
  • Take the exit toward Independence AvenueContinue straight onto Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway NW
  • Continue onto Ohio Drive SW
  • Continue onto Independence Avenue SW
  • Slight RIGHT at Maine Avenue SW
  • Take the Maine Avenue ramp
  • Merge onto Maine Avenue SW
  • After crossing 7th Street SW, take the next RIGHT onto Water Street SW- NOTE: Water Street is closed to buses.
  • The Wharf Marina is at 600 Water Street SW
  • There is absolutely no parking available at The Wharf Marina
  • Buses can easily drop off students and pick them up from the bus loading lane on Maine Avenue SW, directly after the entrance to Water Street SW.  If buses need to park for the day before picking up students they can find parking at the East Potomac Park, Hains Point. There is plenty of free parking for buses. Do not drop students at Hains Point. The East Potomac Park address is Ohio Drive SW, Washington, D.C.
  • Due to construction, parking is very limited in this part of Washington, DC.  Individual chaperones or school vans may be able to find parking at the public parking garage located at 1100 4th Street SW, if space and height restrictions permit. This garage is approximately a 5 min. walk from the Marina.
  • The Potomac River Program staff will meet your bus at the loading lane on Maine Avenue, or other groups in front of the marina parking lot. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation workboat is the Bea Hayman Clark.

From the Capital Beltway in Maryland

  • From I-95, take 295 North to the South Capitol Street exit, and stay in RIGHT lane
  • At the first traffic light, make a LEFT onto M Street
  • At 6th Street, make a RIGHT and go around the block:  make a LEFT on I (eye) Street, a LEFT on 7th Street, and a LEFT on Maine Avenue
  • The entrance to Water Street is the next RIGHT-- NOTE: Water Street is closed to buses.
  • The Wharf Marina:   600 Water Street

  • Take the Green Line to Waterfront Station
  • Turn RIGHT after leaving the exit on M Street
  • Go 1 ½ blocks over to Water Street
  • The Wharf Marina will be on your LEFT at 600 Water Street
