Directions to the Virginia Oyster Restoration Center and Oyster Farm
Virginia ORC at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS)

From I-64 on the Virginia Peninsula
- Take the Ft. Eustis Blvd. exit toward Yorktown (take a left onto Jefferson for just a few yards before immediately turning right onto Ft. Eustis Blvd.).
- Go about three miles and take a left on Rt. 17, also known as George Washington Memorial Highway.
- Cross the Coleman Bridge over the York River and pay a $2.00 toll.
- Take a right at the first traffic light after the toll booth (Lafayette Heights Dr.) then turn right on Greate Rd.
- Pass the VIMS campus, follow the road as it bends to the right under the Coleman Bridge.
- Stay on this road, and continue through the boat yard. There will be CBF signage instructing you where to park.
Oyster Farm
FROM HAMPTON AND POINTS SOUTH:
- Follow Interstate-64 west toward Williamsburg and Richmond to the Ft. Eustis Blvd. exit.
- Take Exit 250 (Yorktown) and turn left at the bottom of the ramp—take an immediate right onto Ft. Eustis Blvd and follow signs to Yorktown/Rt. 17.
- Proceed for approximately 3 miles to Rt. 17 and turn left (heading north).
- Continue on Rt. 17 North across the Coleman Bridge ($2 toll for passenger cars or EZPass).
- After crossing the bridge continue to Rt. 216/Guinea Road and turn right.
- Follow Rt. 216 for 3 miles and turn right onto Rt. 643, also called Mark Pine Road (Bena Post Office, C.B. Rowe and Sons Store across the street.
- Follow Rt. 643 for about a mile and turn right onto Little England Rd (Rt 642, very curvy and narrow).
- Follow Little England Rd. for about 1.5 miles to Oyster Cove Rd.
- Turn Right onto Oyster Cove Road (Note: just before this turn there is a farm field on right and a Bird Sanctuary sign on right).
- Follow the road until it turns 90 degrees to the left - after this curve proceed past three driveways and look for a Commonwealth of Virginia sign at the oyster farm entrance.
- Turn right into the entrance marked by the Commonwealth sign and go back toward the water. You will see a blue storage shed on the left once on the driveway.
FROM RICHMOND AND POINTS WEST:
- Follow I-64 East toward Hampton/Williamsburg.
- Take the exit for Ft Eustis Blvd - Yorktown (This will be the second Ft Eustis Blvd exit).
- Follow Ft Eustis Blvd to Rt 17 and turn left on 17 north.
- Continue on Rt. 17 North across Coleman Bridge over the York River ($2 toll for passenger cars or EZPass).
- Follow Rt. 216 for 3 miles and turn right onto Rt. 643, also called Mark Pine Road (Bena Post Office & C.B. Rowe and Sons Store is across the street.).
- Follow Rt. 643 for about a mile and turn right onto Little England Rd (Rt 642, very curvy and narrow).
- Follow Little England Rd. for about 1.5 miles to Oyster Cove Rd.
- Turn Right onto Oyster Cove Road (Note: just before this turn there is a farm field on right and a Bird Sanctuary sign on right).
- Follow the road until it turns 90 degrees to the left - after this curve proceed past three driveways and look for a Commonwealth of Virginia sign at the oyster farm entrance.
