California-based Sierra Nevada Brewing has donated more than $275,000 nationwide to preserve vital waterways for recreation, wildlife, and wilderness through its Wild Rivers campaign which began in 2009. The brewery recently announced that the Chesapeake Bay Foundation was selected as one of six conservation organizations supported through the campaign in 2012. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of every 12-pack of Sierra Nevada beer purchased from June 1 through July 7, 2012, supported river conservation efforts across the country.
With a longstanding commitment to sound environmental stewardship, Sierra Nevada has become a role model through its pioneering leadership in sustainability. They learned early the importance of reusing materials, conserving energy, and reducing waste. And, for three decades, the brewery has been following that philosophy—using state-of-the-art techniques and equipment to make the brewing process more efficient and minimizing their impact on the planet.
"Clean water is not only essential to our brew process, but more importantly, to our local community and region," says Andrew Davis, Sales Promotion Coordinator for Sierra Nevada. "We strive to use this valuable resource as efficiently as possible. As such, we are pleased to support the clean water efforts of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation with our Wild Rivers campaign."
