For creatures ranging from bald eagles to soft-shell clams ("mannoes"), the richest concentration of life in the Chesapeake lies in the Bay's "edges," its marshes, tide flats, and underwater grass beds. The areas in black on the maps below signify habitat areas for four five key Bay species.
