Spring and Fall Salinity Levels

Higher river flows in the spring push back the ocean's salty influence; in autumn, drier weather diminishes river flow and the ocean marches up the estuary. The habitats and migration patterns of many Bay creatures, including Blue crabs, oysters, and striped bass, rely on this cycle of change.
