Red Drum article from Save the Bay Magazine Fall 2013.Why the Drum Boom? 
Red drum are a popular sport fish off the Carolinas and Florida, but they are rare sightings in the upper Chesapeake Bay and seasonal visitors in the lower Bay. However, fishermen in Virginia and Maryland last year reported catching record-shattering numbers of red drum—2.7 million of them! That was more than 30 times the number of red drum caught the year before, according to state fisheries managers. So why the drum boom?
