UNDERWATER GRASSES

A 2015 aerial survey of the Chesapeake Bay showed more than 91,600 acres covered with underwater grass beds. This is a 21 percent increase over 2014. Moving in the right direction, but still a lot of work to be done. The Bay Program's goal is 185,000 acres, about the extent of the grass beds in the 1950s.
