Environmental Education Program


The Hampton Roads Education Program and CBF's floating classroom, Jenny S., work out of the following three locations.

Norfolk - Town Point Park

1 Waterside Drive #100
Norfolk, Virginia 23510

  • Take interstate 64 East or 64 West to Route 264 West in Norfolk
  • Follow 264 West 4.5 miles to Waterside Drive exit (on the left)
  • Travel on Route 264 for ½ mile to Main Street
  • Turn left onto Nauticus Museum parking circle
  • There is no parking for the bus at Nauticus, but students and teachers may unload there
  • Walk through Town Point Park toward Waterside Mall
  • Our boat, Jenny S., will be docked on the seawall on the face of Town Point Park between Nauticus and Waterside Mall
  • There is parking for the bus on Main Street and Plume Street (next stoplight)
Portsmouth - Portside Seawall

  • Take Interstate 64 or Route 58 toward Interstate 264 East
  • In Portsmouth, take exit #7 - Effingham
  • On exit ramp, follow signs for immediate right to "Crawford St./Naval Hospital/Naval Shipyard"
  • Follow signs to Crawford Street and turn right onto Water Street
  • Our boat, Jenny S., will be docked on the Portside Seawall
Virginia Beach - CBF's Brock Environmental Center

3663 Marlin Bay Drive
Virginia Beach, Virginia 23455

  • From I-64, take US-13 N/Northampton Blvd (exit 282) toward the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel
  • From Northampton, take US-60/Shore Drive east, toward the beaches (turn Right onto Shore Drive)
  • Turn right onto Marlin Bay Drive and follow parking directions below
  • From VA Beach: take US-60 Shore Drive WEST; then turn LEFT onto Marlin Bay Drive
    • PARKING: Designated bus parking spots are along Marlin Bay Dr, where our educators will meet your group to walk the trail down & board the Jenny S
    • ORK participants: Dock Cart will be available to transport your Oyster Cages
Newport News – James River Marina

665 Deep Creek Road
Newport News, Virginia 23606

  • From Richmond, take Route 64 East towards Newport News
  • From Norfolk, take Route 64 West to Newport News
  • Exit onto Jefferson Avenue East towards Newport News
  • Go .9 mile to the second stoplight and turn right onto Oyster Point Road (McDonalds on the corner)
  • Follow Oyster Point Road one mile to Warwick Boulevard (Rt. 60) and go right at the light onto Deep Creek Road
  • Follow this road to the end and you will see James River Marina
  • Our boat, Jenny S., will be at the dock
  • From downtown Newport News, follow Route 60 West to Deep Creek Road and go right
