Student Environmental Leadership
Summer Course Descriptions

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is offering three Environmental Leadership courses designed for motivated students who demonstrate initiative and interest in creating positive and lasting environmental change.

SL1 Student Action and Chesapeake Leadership  (CLOSED)
June 24-28
This course is open to all eligible Maryland high school students
During this course, students will hike fish, wade, observe, sail, and paddle through some of the most beautiful and inspiring natural areas in the Chesapeake watershed.

Situated on pilings over Tangier Sound, Fox Island Education Center is a uniquely ideal facility for learning about the Chesapeake. This will be a very student-directed course, where leadership skills can be practiced and environmental issues investigated through choices put to the students. We will also be spending a day aboard CBF's Marguerite, a 40-foot education jet boat that needs just eighteen inches of water in which to run, bringing students to often hard-to-reach locations to continue our explorations.
Length and Location: 5 days total—3 days/2 nights at CBF's Fox Island Education Center, and two days/two nights: including time at the Phillip Merrill Center and aboard the Arthur Sherwood Center's workboat Marguerite.
Cost: $100/student (every student receives a $1,500 scholarship, thanks to the generosity of CBF donors)
