Student Leadership

Students have an incredible ability and opportunity to help improve the health of the Bay. The mission of CBF's Student Leadership program is to offer students opportunities to expand their knowledge of Bay issues, improve their planning skills, focus on team building, and learn how to lead others to take action to improve water quality in their local communities. We accomplish this by providing summer courses and student-directed project resources to motivated students who want to join in the larger effort of environmental change.

Summer 2013 Course Applications Now Available!

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is taking applications for summer courses offered to eligible Maryland high school students. Get the details, see course descriptions or apply now.

Environmental Leadership Courses

Through 'teachable moments,' our Environmental Leadership courses connect students with the Chesapeake. Memories from these experiences serve as an enduring motivator for our future leaders. We believe that allowing students to follow their passion is the best way for them to discover their own leadership capacity. This summer we are offering three courses to eligible Maryland high school students. Find out more about CBF's Environmental Leadership courses.

Current offerings will be expanded upon in the coming months as CBF begins exploring new ways to help students get involved in actions that Save the Bay™.

Student Project Resources

CBF believes the best way to learn about the Chesapeake Bay is to experience it—to "learn outside." We also believe that student leadership skills are most effectively developed through student-directed activities and projects. Our student project resources page has activities and guides that have helped students successfully engage in action projects of their own.

CBF's Student Leadership program works to advise and connect students with available resources and opportunities. Please contact us if you are already planning a project or have one presently underway.

For more information, contact the CBF Student Leadership coordinator at 410-268-8816 or SLcoordinator@cbf.org.

You will begin to receive Bay updates from CBF soon.
