Charles Parks
Port Isobel Island Education Center Captain
Tenure at CBF: 1996–Present
Education: Tangier Combined School
Charles has lived on Tangier Island all his life, loves the close-knit community, and would never imagine living anywhere else. He worked as a commercial waterman in the Chesapeake Bay for 27 years learning everything there is to know about the Bay and its aquatic life before joining CBF. As a waterman he worked crab pots, shed soft crabs, as well as dredged for crabs and oysters in the winter.
Charles is married to his wife Cindy, “the love of his life,” and has two sons and two grandsons. Today as a CBF Captain, Charles enjoys educating and talking with student and adult groups aboard the Loni Carol II.
