to Promote Clean Water Legislation

(NORFOLK, VA.)The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is partnering with the Dave Matthews Band and Norfolk radio station WNOB-FM 93.7 "The Bob" to promote important Chesapeake Bay legislation now in Congress.

Starting Tuesday, July 6, 2010, a pair of tickets to the July 20th Dave Matthews Band concert at the Virginia Beach Amphitheatre will be given away every day to randomly selected people who have gone to CBF's website and sent a letter to their congressman in support of the Chesapeake Clean Water Act. Every person who visits the website, cbf.org/dmb, and sends a letter will also automatically become a CBF member.

On the day of the concert, CBF will host a table at WNOB's remote broadcast booth at the concert and encourage concertgoers to sign a petition supporting the legislation. All petition signers from the July 20 concert will be entered into a contest to win an autographed Dave Matthews Band lithograph.

The Chesapeake Clean Water Act (S 1816, HR 3852) has been called a game changer for the Bay. The bill will limit all sources of nutrient and sediment pollution to Bay waterways and restore streams and the Bay to health after more than two decades of failed Bay cleanup agreements. A U.S. Senate committee approved the legislation last week; it now will go to the full Senate for a vote later this year.

"Dave Matthews Band is honored to have the opportunity to help support this important piece of legislation that will help preserve the Chesapeake Bay for generations to come," said a representative from the band's management, Red Light Management.

"CBF is proud to have Dave Matthews Band and WNOB as partners in this important effort," said CBF President Will Baker. "We hope music fans from all across the Bay watershed will make their voices heard. Together, we can truly make a difference."

With over 35 million albums sold, Grammy Award winning Dave Matthews Bandcomprised of Carter Beauford (drums), Stefan Lessard (bass), Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar), and Boyd Tinsley (violin)was recently named Touring Act of the Decade, with over 11 million tickets sold in that period alone.
