CBF Statement on Bay Program Water Quality Assessment

(ANNAPOLIS, MD)Chesapeake Bay Foundation President Will Baker issued this statement following the Chesapeake Bay Program press call concerning pollution trends for local rivers, streams, and the Chesapeake Bay.

"Incremental improvements in stream health are good, but make no mistake the Bay is still dangerously polluted. Dead zones, beach closures, and human health risks are still the norm, not the exception. We have a choicelet the Bay die or save it.

Now is not the time to give up on clean water, and the economic benefits, jobs, and improved quality of life that clean water brings. Saving the Bay still demands the biggest fight for clean water this nation has ever seen."
