CBF: Bottle and Can Bill Will Help Clean Up Our Water, and Help Change the Throw

(BALTIMORE, MD)—Will Baker, President of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), issued this statement today following the introduction by Delegate Maggie McIntosh, Chairman of the House Environmental Matters Committee, of RecycleForReal:

"Much of the Inner Harbor and too many of our creeks and rivers in Maryland have become receptacles for our waste, for trash and for other pollution. This legislation will help change that. It also will turn trash into money in our pockets, and spark awareness in our throw-away culture.

"The clean-up of the Chesapeake and its tributaries is making slow but steady progress thanks to cooperation between business, government, and citizens. The bottle and can bill is a perfect example of that kind of cooperation."
