(RICHMOND, VA)—Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) Virginia Executive Director Ann Jennings issued this statement regarding Gov. Terry McAuliffe's appointment of Russ Baxter as Deputy Secretary of Natural Resources for the Chesapeake Bay:

"CBF is very pleased that Gov. McAuliffe has named such a seasoned veteran of Chesapeake Bay issues to this important post. Russ Baxter brings years of state government experience and expertise in natural resources policy, both at the executive and legislative levels.

"The next four years will be critical for the Commonwealth as it implements the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint, reduces pollution, and seeks to achieve ambitious clean water goals Virginia committed to reach by 2017. Gov. McAuliffe's appointment of Baxter provides us optimism Virginia will hit those marks."
