  • No doubt left; Local residents oppose Four Seasons development

    A majority of voters in Kent Island and Queen Anne's County are opposed to the 1079-unit Four Seasons development project proposed for Kent Island. On the island, opponents outnumber supporters by more than 2-1, according to a public opinion poll by Public Opinion Strategies commissioned by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) and Queen Anne's Conservation Association (QACA). Half again as many people county-wide oppose the project.

  • Federal Court Ruling Affirms Chesapeake Bay Blueprint

    Pennsylvania Federal Judge Sylvia Rambo today issued a ruling upholding Bay clean-up efforts, and rejecting the arguments of the Farm Bureau, the National Association of Home Builders, and other big agriculture interests. The ruling affirmed that EPA, working with the states, has the authority to set science-based pollution limits.

    The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) today filed to intervene in the administrative proceedings of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the re-licensing of the hydropower facility at Conowingo Dam owned by Exelon Corporation. CBF will be advocating as the regional watchdog for the Chesapeake Bay to pursue a comprehensive solution to the water quality and habitat impacts of the dam.

    More than 90 percent of Virginia voters support the Commonwealth's plan to restore the Chesapeake Bay and want the next governor to move forward on implementing the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint, the federal-state plan to restore the Bay, according to new bipartisan polling.

  • Rain Barrels Available at Wormleysburg River Day

    The Harrisburg Rain Barrel Coalition will be on site this Saturday, July 20th, at the Wormleysburg River Day festival to help educate area residents about the benefits of using rain barrels to collect rainwater from rooftops. Decorative, hand-painted barrels will also be available for sale.
