    The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) today filed to intervene in the administrative proceedings of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the re-licensing of the hydropower facility at Conowingo Dam owned by Exelon Corporation. CBF will be advocating as the regional watchdog for the Chesapeake Bay to pursue a comprehensive solution to the water quality and habitat impacts of the dam.

  • Bay Foundation Presents Lifetime Achievement Award

    The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) honored the leadership and conservation achievements of Bradford County Conservation District Manager Mike Lovegreen by recognizing his lifetime achievements with the CBF 2013 Conservationist of the Year Award. Lovegreen was honored by nearly one hundred colleagues, friends, and CBF staff at the state Capitol on June 25th. Many had traveled several hours to celebrate his achievements.

    Anne Arundel County Department of Health has issued a "Preemptive Advisory" in effect for June 7-9 cautioning that all county beaches are under a no swimming/no direct water contact advisory for at least 48 hours due to predicted elevated bacteria levels from rainwater runoff and increased health risks.

  • CBF and EPA Reach New Agreement to Reduce Pollution from Animal Operations

    The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have reached a new agreement to reduce pollution from animal operations. This new agreement, which arises from the 2010 settlement of CBF's lawsuit, will provide additional certainty that the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint (the Bay Total Maximum Daily Load and State Watershed Implementation Plans or "WIPs") now in place will achieve its goal of reducing pollution throughout the six-state, 64,000 square-mile Bay region with full implementation by 2025.
