Baker issued this statement regarding a new federal Farm Bill, which was passed today by the U.S. House of Representatives: "CBF commends the House for passing a new federal Farm Bill, and we celebrate its strong new conservation program, known as the Regional Conservation Partnership Program.     Pennsylvania Federal Judge Sylvia Rambo today issued a ruling upholding Bay clean-up efforts, and rejecting the arguments of the Farm Bureau, the National Association of Home Builders, and other big agriculture interests. The ruling affirmed that EPA, working with the states, has the authority to set science-based pollution limits.

"In Bay restoration we don't often see straight line progress, and the decline in underwater grasses in the Chesapeake Bay, as shown by the 2012 numbers, is a sobering reminder that extreme weather can set back recovery. It also reminds us that we need to focus on the elements we can control, especially reducing pollution to the Bay.
