Quittapahilla Live Stake Planting
March 28, 2015
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Quittapahilla Educational Wetland Preserve
Join CBF and Penn State's Greening the Lower Susquehanna project for a morning of native tree planting. We will be planting several hundred trees and shrubs from live stakes (dormant cuttings) throughout the wetland, which sits at the headwaters of the Quittapahilla Creek. Wetlands work to protect water quality by filtering sediment and nutrients from water. Planting trees in a wetland will help maximize the water quality benefits! This event is in partnership with the Lebanon County Conservation District.
Antietam Creek Watershed Streamside & Wetland Enhancement
May 9, 2015
9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Come help CBF plant 500 native trees and shrubs along a stream that feeds into the East Branch of Antietam Creek. This project will expand an existing forested stream buffer planted by volunteers years ago. A stormwater pond adjacent to the stream will also be planted to provide additional nutrient uptake and shading to reduce impacts to this cold water fishery.
This project is in partnership with the Antietam Watershed Association, Renfrew Institute, and Lee Royer and Associates. Funding is through the National Fish and Wildlife Service.
