Learn Outside with Us

CBF's one-day and multi-day student field programs offer many opportunities for students, teachers, and others to get outside and learn about the wonders of our Bay region through field investigations.

Making a Student Field Program Request

Before beginning your request, choose a student field program. When completing your program request, please take the following into account:

  • Location: Some student field programs run from a variety of locations. After selecting a program, please indicate you preferred location. If you do not select a site, our program staff will select one with you after your date is confirmed.
  • Dates: We ask for three preferred dates. Flexible requests allow us to accommodate the many schools making field program requests. We will make every effort to schedule your top requested dates.
  • Time: One-day program timing is based on each school's transportation restrictions (activity bus vs. contract bus, etc.) but should fall within the general 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. school day timeframe.
  • Group Size: The number of participants includes students, teachers, and chaperones. Maximum numbers are listed on the program request form. If your group size exceeds the maximum number allowed for a program, you have two options: request two or more programs on the same day or request the program on multiple dates.

If we are unable to fill your request, you will be placed on a waiting list and may receive a date later in the season as cancellations come in. Confirmation and wait list status emails will be sent by July 1 for fall one-day or multi-day program requests and by February 1 for spring one-day program requests.

Find more information on the FAQ page. If you have further questions about submitting a program request, please contact the scheduling team at 800-445-5572 or fieldtrips@cbf.org.

The priority deadline to request a spring 2023 student field program has passed. Requests are now being accepted on a rolling basis. Review the information above to learn about our waiting list.
