Plant Native Trees

Family planting a tree

Trees are crucial to the overall health of the watershed—they slow down runoff and the erosion of soil, which contains sediment, and they absorb the nutrients that are the main cause of pollutants in the Bay. Trees and forests also provide habitat for wildlife and help to cool stream temperatures.

Gifts made through CBF's virtual giving catalog are only symbolic and will be used where they are needed most. More than 80 cents of every dollar raised goes right back into CBF programs which tie to our mission of a clean and healthy Chesapeake Bay. And, because you are supporting CBF's work for clean water, your gift is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Your gift will help the Chesapeake Bay Foundation further its mission of saving the Chesapeake Bay and include you with the thousands of people who every year donate, volunteer, and sacrifice to help save this natural resource.

For nearly 50 years, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation has been dedicated solely to protecting and restoring the Chesapeake Bay, and the more than 1,000,000 streams, creeks, and rivers that drain into it.

Progress has been made and there are signs that our waters are starting to recover. But the system is still dangerously out of balance.

We must ensure that restoration efforts remain on track to achieve the long-range pollution reduction goals of the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint—to get the Bay and its tributaries off the Clean Water Act "Impaired Waters" list by 2025.
