Menhaden, also known as bunker, are a cornerstone species of the Chesapeake Bay. These small nutrient-packed forage fish play a large role in the Bay ecosystem and economy. But they are also the target of the huge reduction industry that catches and processes millions of wild menhaden and grinds them down to use in other industries. Strong, science-based management of this forage fish is critical.

Don’t miss these menhaden-focused events. Each offers a chance to learn why menhaden matter, the growing pressures they face, and how you can take action to safeguard their future in the Bay.
