Alison Hooper Prost
Vice President for Programs
Alison Hooper Prost currently serves as CBF’s senior vice president for programs. In this role, Alison leads the planning and development of CBF’s organizational strategy, long-term goals, and policy development. Alison supports CBF’s strategic initiatives to find solutions to the Bay’s most pressing restoration challenges. Additionally, a significant part of her current role is leading the Advocacy and Restoration Department. Alison seeks out opportunities for cross-team and cross-organizational collaboration. She views her greatest organizational contribution as enabling and supporting staff at CBF to have the most impactful collective impact on saving the Bay and its rivers and streams.
Alison has been with CBF since 2007 when she joined as the staff attorney in CBF’s Maryland office. In that role she managed legislative session activities, provided legal advice on matters related to Maryland projects and regulations and served as a liaison between the Maryland office and the Litigation Department. In January 2012, Alison became CBF’s Maryland executive director, where she directed policy and managed a diverse team of scientists, land use specialists, lawyers, grassroots staff, and volunteers to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay. In August 2020, Alison became the vice president of the Environmental Protection and Restoration Department (what is now the Advocacy and Restoration Department).
Alison holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Boston University (1998) and an environmental law certificate from the University of Maryland School of Law (2004).
Alison, her husband Jeff, and their two children reside in Annapolis, Maryland. She loves being near or in the water and is often the one to initiate a dip in a pool, ocean, or the beloved Chesapeake Bay.
