Dan Johannes
Maryland Oyster Restoration Specialist
Dan Johannes resides in Bowie, Maryland, and has been with CBF since 2006. Dan graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and resource economics and a minor in business. As the Maryland oyster restoration specialist, Dan is responsible for the oyster setting operations at CBF’s Maryland Oyster Restoration Center and over the past nineteen years has planted over 300 million oysters and deployed thousands of reef balls in the Chesapeake Bay. Dan also manages CBF’s shell recycling program, which is a volunteer-based program that collects oyster shell from restaurants throughout Maryland. Dan can fix just about anything that breaks, and he has exceptional organizational skills that keep the oyster center running smoothly and efficiently.
When he’s not working, vacations are usually spent scuba diving in Roatan, Honduras. His other hobbies include playing ice hockey, bike riding, and golfing. Dan also has a highly energetic husky-German shepherd mix dog named Max who is his best friend.
