Karl Willey

Maryland Oyster Restoration Program Manager

After leaving North Carolina at the age of 13, Karl Willey spent most of his life just down the road from CBF’s headquarters in Annapolis. During high school and college, Karl worked as a waterman, fishing and crabbing the Bay waters right outside CBF’s office. For several years, he chartered the blue waters of the U.S. Virgin Islands and even sailed a boat across the Atlantic to Spain. His maritime experience initially led him to CBF’s Education Department, and he now serves as the Maryland oyster restoration manager. When not at the helm of CBF’s 60 foot oyster restoration boat, the Patricia Campbell, he enjoys captaining his own boat crabbing, fishing, and camping on the Bay.
