Katharene Poston

Chief Development Officer

Katharene J. Poston serves as Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, where she leads the organization’s comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the mission of saving the Bay. Under Katharene’s leadership since 2013, CBF’s Philanthropy team raises the vast majority of the organization’s annual revenue.

With three decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, Katharene brings a dynamic and people-centered approach to philanthropy, as well as expertise in marketing and events, public relations, board management and strategic communications. Prior to joining CBF, Katharene held executive leadership roles at several cultural and educational institutions.

Katharene earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, and a Master’s degree in Communication and Marketing Management from the University of Southern California. She is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is passionate about mentoring emerging leaders in the nonprofit sector.

When she’s not leading CBF’s Philanthropy efforts, Katharene enjoys hiking, tennis, yoga and attending concerts. She lives in Annapolis with her two daughters and a houseful of animals.
