Patrick Fanning

Virginia Staff Attorney

Patrick Fanning joined the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in 2021 as the Virginia staff attorney in CBF’s Richmond office. Patrick is responsible for promoting CBF’s policy and regulatory agenda before the Virginia General Assembly and state agencies, providing legal advice on Virginia projects and regulatory issues, and serving as the liaison between the Virginia office and CBF’s Litigation Department.

Prior to joining CBF, Patrick practiced environmental law for several years in the private sector, focusing his work on the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act and state counterparts. Patrick received his law degree from the University of Richmond and his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia.

When he can’t be out on the Bay, Patrick loves exploring the wilds of Richmond’s James River Park System with his family.
