Vanessa Moses

Vanessa Moses is a proud native of Virginia’s Eastern Shore. After earning a dual degree in African American Studies and Environmental Thought & Practice from the University of Virginia, she began her career as a middle school educator in the Baltimore City School System.

Vanessa joined the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) in 2022 as Port Isobel Assistant Manager on Tangier Island, VA, and transitioned to her current role as Community Engagement Specialist in 2024. She brings a thoughtful approach to blending genealogical research, environmental history, and cultural knowledge to illuminate underrepresented stories of sustainability and ecological stewardship.

In her role, Vanessa fosters partnerships, develops inclusive workplace training, and supports outreach events. Most of all, she is passionate about creating programs that are enriching, equitable, and deeply connected to the communities CBF serves.
