What a night! On June 13, 2026, 1,600 Bay savers came together to rock out at nature’s greatest music venue—the Chesapeake Bay. With the moon shimmering behind the stage, the energy was electric and the mission was loud and clear: have fun and Save the Bay.

A heartfelt thank you to every sponsor, guest, volunteer, and vendor—your generosity and spirit powered the celebration which raised a record breaking $550k!

Two decades of impact

As the crowds dispersed for the 20th anniversary of Bands in the Sand, we reflected on the memories and momentum built across these twenty years. Since it began, Bands in the Sand has raised $6 million to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay—an achievement made possible by the thousands of supporters who helped turn this event into the kickoff to summer.

We’re especially honored to celebrate Dick Franyo, whose leadership and passion sparked this twenty-year tradition. Thanks to the Friends of Franyo and Franyo Fund, we shattered fundraising records and proudly cemented Dick’s legacy by naming the beach in his honor: Franyo Beach.

From everyone at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation: thank you for dancing, donating, and defending the Bay. We can’t wait to see you next year—same sand, more music, and even bigger waves for the Bay!

The 2027 Bands in the Sand will be here before you know it! Sign up for CBF emails to ensure you get the latest updates.
