Become a Chesapeake Steward
CBF's Volunteers as Chesapeake Stewards, or VoiCeS, program engages local volunteers and their communities and fosters a deeper understanding of the Bay watershed and the efforts to restore it.
Long-term improvements in the health of the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and streams requires knowledgeable, active, and inspired community members. Created in 2004, CBF’s Volunteers as Chesapeake Stewards, or VoiCeS, program offers professionally taught, intensive educational courses for advocates who want to take a more active role in restoring clean water across the region.
Classes are offered in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Join us for an upcoming class to gain a deeper understanding of the Chesapeake Bay watershed and the challenges facing it, steps you can take to clean up your local waterways, and how to engage your community and elected officials. Other topics covered include pollution issues, fisheries and other wildlife, environmental justice, and more.
CBF’s VoiCeS program provided me so much more than I ever expected. My experience included more compelling stories about why we must protect our Bay; more guidance to show me how to become an effective advocate; more connections into the myriad of organizations dedicated to protecting the Bay; and finally, more friendships with like-minded colleagues who care. VoiCeS was an easy investment of my time that has returned so much more.
