David Tucker serves as Director of Regional Major Giving at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), where he has worked since 2016. His connection to the Chesapeake Bay began in fourth grade, when a CBF field experience inspired a lifelong commitment to environmental conservation and stewardship.

With over 15 years of experience in environmental philanthropy, David leads a team of regional gift officers across the Chesapeake Bay watershed and partners with individual donors, corporations, and foundations throughout the Washington, D.C. region to help donors connect their philanthropic goals with opportunities to create lasting impacts for the Chesapeake Bay. David co-leads CBF’s Maryland-DC Advisory Council, is involved with CBF’s DC on the Half Shell event, and serves on CBF’s Philanthropy management team.

Prior to joining CBF, David spent nearly five years working for American Rivers, where he began his work in philanthropy. Earlier in his career, he worked on programmatic issues at Defenders of Wildlife, supporting initiatives related to renewable energy, wildlife trade, and global climate change. He began his conservation career as an intern with the National Wildlife Federation, focusing on wetlands and Farm Bill policy.

David is a 2010 graduate of the Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders Program and holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Maryland. A former sportswriter, he brings a passion for storytelling and relationship building to his work with donors and conservation partners. David lives in Montgomery County, MD with his family and black lab, Buddy.
