The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), our partners, and 41farmers in northern Pennsylvania today celebrate a significant clean water achievement: 36 miles of forest buffers have been planted along streams in Bradford, Susquehanna, Sullivan, Wyoming, and Lycoming Counties. These buffers will improve local and downstream water quality, improve farm viability, provide habitat for fish and other wildlife, and count toward Pennsylvania's Clean Water Blueprint requirements.

Chesapeake Bay Foundation President William C. Baker and Vice President for Litigation Jon Mueller issued these statements following notification that the American Farm Bureau Federation and others intend to appeal Judge Sylvia Rambo's ruling that Bay restoration efforts are legal. William C. Baker said: "It is disappointing that so much effort has to be spent in the courts, versus on cleaning up the Bay and its rivers and streams. We are confident that the Bay clean-up plan will be upheld on appeal.

These "conservation efforts that count" will help Pennsylvania meet its Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Blueprint and Milestones goals.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) honored the leadership and conservation achievements of Bradford County Conservation District Manager Mike Lovegreen by recognizing his lifetime achievements with the CBF 2013 Conservationist of the Year Award. Lovegreen was honored by nearly one hundred colleagues, friends, and CBF staff at the state Capitol on June 25th. Many had traveled several hours to celebrate his achievements.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have reached a new agreement to reduce pollution from animal operations. This new agreement, which arises from the 2010 settlement of CBF's lawsuit, will provide additional certainty that the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint (the Bay Total Maximum Daily Load and State Watershed Implementation Plans or "WIPs") now in place will achieve its goal of reducing pollution throughout the six-state, 64,000 square-mile Bay region with full implementation by 2025.
