Photo of the Week: Palace Bar Reef

Sunset Palace Bar Reef. Bait fish create ripples on the water as silhouetted fishermen wait for a bigger catch.

Thousands of Bay anchovies and Atlantic silversides are visible on calm morning at Palace’s Bar Sanctuary oyster reef on the Piankatank River. CBF reef balls help create three-dimensional bottom habitat that attracts diverse bay creatures. Anglers reap the rewards of habitat restoration efforts when prized gamefish like striped bass and speckled trout are attracted to reefs in search of forage.
