Many are asking what Tuesday's election will mean for the Bay. Our staff are assessing the new political landscape and the opportunities and challenges that may lie ahead. We look forward to working with all incumbent and newly elected leaders to keep pushing forward on clean water restoration for all of the Bay region's 18 million residents. oyster

Restoring our waterways requires commitment from all of us and all our elected leaders—no matter the political party—to address the issues fouling our rivers and streams. We need to alleviate polluted runoff from our farms and urban areas. We need additional upgrades to our wastewater treatment plants. We need to invest more in restoring the Bay's native oyster population and planting trees throughout the watershed. And we need to reaffirm strong local, state, and federal regulations and permits that will help us protect and restore air and water quality.

Though we are faced with a lot of unknowns, one thing is certain: We can't do this work without you. Your partnership and participation are crucial. Your financial support, your willingness to volunteer your time, your signature on a petition, and, when necessary, your willingness to call your elected officials, is paramount to our shared success.

As always, thank you for your support and commitment to our Bay. Stay tuned for updates in the coming days and weeks ahead. And make sure to stay up to date about the critical issues we're advocating for in the 2019 Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania legislative sessions.
