Having pristine places to visit should always be a priority for the states nestled along the Chesapeake Bay. I'm always pleased that a couple of my favorite places in Northumberland County, Virginia, are rather free of human effects over many visits spanning the 3 years since I discovered them. Not spotless, but honestly, something is going right with keeping our Bay clean. One mile of shoreline yesterday had only 5 pieces of trash flotsam to pick up. Some beautiful new driftwood additions and the gorgeous healthy sand dunes should encourage you to go visit sometime soon.
