Join us for a unique fishing event that celebrates the difference restored oyster reefs are making in the return of healthy, diverse populations of Chesapeake Bay reef fish.

Sponsored by CBF and the Chesapeake Oyster Alliance, this year's Rod & Reef Slam is instead offering a Youth Fishing Derby for our youngest of anglers. The Derby is presented as part of this year's Chesapeake Fishing Open.

Experience the magic of marine restoration and get ready for an action-packed day filled with exciting fishing adventures, oyster restoration, and boundless fun suitable for all ages!

Register now

CBF will furnish all young enthusiasts with necessary fishing and safety equipment and a free chartered boat will accompany our budding anglers and their grownups to the flourishing oyster reef at Fort Carroll.

Once back on shore, young participants are invited to visit our booth, claim their prizes, and explore more about the fascinating fish they've caught!

For those who prefer staying on dry land, CBF is offering activities as part of the Oysters, Blues & Brews Festival occurring simultaneously onsite. Our oyster gardening team will be crafting and submerging oyster cages into the marina. Join in and learn about the invaluable role of oysters in restoring marine ecosystems while engaging in some fish-themed crafts!

We're committed to promoting sustainable practices, so please refer to our safe fish handling webpage and catch and release guide for responsible fishing methods. To stay updated on other CBF events throughout the year, head over to our event calendar.
