Sharps Island Lighthouse

Morgan Jones

Beautiful late-August afternoon sunlight catches Sharps Island Lighthouse.

As a young girl, I could see the Sharps Island light every evening from the window of our small cottage on Plum Point Beach. Eventually, the light stopped shining and the lighthouse became just a cast iron pillar on the horizon. In the following years, we would visit Sharps Island Lighthouse by boat to see it up close. Staring at the lighthouse was like getting a glimpse of the past; I always liked to picture an island around it, trying to imagine what this site might have looked like so many years ago.
