Program Overview (PDF) | Information for Parents & Guardians
Program Capacity: 26 for canoe program (grade 6 and above), 30 for stream-based program (grade 4 and above).
The Maryland Rivers & Streams Environmental Education Program provides canoe and stream-based field investigations across the state of Maryland. While paddling local tributaries and conducting streamside surveys, participants explore the effects of land use and human impact on water quality in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. CBF educators provide opportunities for careful observation, data collection, analysis, and synthesis of information gathered during the field experience. Hands-on investigations increase student engagement and provide real-world connections to classroom curriculum. Learners explore the complexity of the watershed and see themselves as part of the solution.
